The Department of Political Science offers three years Undergraduate Honours and General Degree courses to the students of Sukanta College. Currently there are two faculty members in the department, who provide a friendly environment in the teaching-learning process as they go beyond the scheduled hours of classroom teaching. The faculties concerned are easily approachable and never hesitate in extending personal care to each and every student in their need.

Before joining as an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Sukanta College, Sampurna Goswami served as a Guest Lecturer in Political Science at Victoria Institution College, Kolkata. From 2017 to 2018, she worked as a UGC-DEB Project Fellow at Netaji Subhas Open University, Kolkata. Sampurna is currently pursuing her doctoral studies at the Department of International Relations, Jadavpur University. Sampurna is also an Associate Fellow (Honorary) at the Kalinga Institute of Indo-Pacific Studies, Bhubaneshwar, India. She has numerous research publications of national and international repute to her credit. Sampurna regularly voices her political opinions and comments on India’s foreign affairs in regional print and electronic media.
Currently dealing with Politics of Regional and Sub-regional Integration in South Asia: India, China and their Competitive Engagement in Myanmar.

From 2008 to 2013 Monoj Kumar Bera worked as a part Time Teacher in Panchur College. Simultaneously, he was also serving as a guest lecturer in Bangabasi College (Evening) during 2011 to 2013. From 2012 to 2018 he worked as a University Station Supervisor (USS) under Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal (formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology). During 2013 to 2019, he worked as a guest lecturer in Sibani Mandal Mahavidalaya. At present he is working as a State Aided College Teacher in this department.
