The Department of English offers three years Undergraduate General Degree Courses to the students of Sukanta College. Currently there is one faculty member in the department, who provides a friendly environment in the teaching-learning process as he goes beyond the scheduled hours of classroom teaching. The faculty concerned is easily approachable and never hesitates in extending personal care to each and every student in their need.

Sri Arunabha Ghosh did his post-graduation from the Department of English and Other Modern European Languages (DEOMEL) at Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, and completed his Ph.D. from the Department of English and Culture Studies, University of Burdwan. He is engaged in researching the concepts of space and place in connexion with ecology and literature both in English and Bengali. His research findings were presented in national and international level seminars/conferences and national and international research journals. He has also done a Post Graduate Diploma in Translation and Transcultural Studies from Rabindra Bharati University. He is a translator and actively engaged in translating literary and critical texts from English to Bengali and vice versa.
