Department of Food and Nutrition

The Department of Food and Nutrition offers three years Undergraduate General Degree course to the students of Sukanta College. Currently there are two faculty members in the department, who provide a friendly environment in the teaching-learning process as they go beyond the scheduled hours of classroom teaching. The faculties concerned are easily approachable and never hesitate in extending personal care to each and every student in their need.

  • Smt. Ashalata Hembram MSc. (Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology, Shibpur), Diploma (Webel)
    Assistant Professor & Head

Ashalata Hembram completed her under-graduation from Bankura Sammilani College and pursued her masters from Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology, Shibpur. Thereafter, she joined as an Assistant Professor at Sukanta College in 2019.

  • Sri. Arpan Bhattacharya MSc. (Vidyasagar University), B.Ed. (Viharilal College)
    State Aided College Teacher (SACT)

Arpan Bhattacharya, is currently serving as a State Aided College Teacher in Sukanta College. He completed his M.Sc. in 2010 from Vidyasagar University. After post-graduation he taught at a school for a few years. He has done extensive field survey as a part of his study on mid-day meal & ICDS. He has also worked on dietary management of certain diseases.

Areas of Interest :

Dietetics & Community Nutrition, Integrated Child Development Programme.
